Areas of scientific research of the Laboratory for Phytopathology are:

✔️ study of biology, ecology and distribution of quarantine, economically significant and invasive species of phytopathogenic bacteria, fungi and viruses;

✔️ molecular identification, characterization and analysis of the population structure of pathogens of economic importance for agricultural production;

✔️ examination of biotic stress in plants due to the presence of pathogens;

✔️ developing an integrated plant protection strategy;

✔️ examination of the phenomenon of reduced sensitivity and resistance of microorganisms to pesticides;

✔️ testing the level of resistance of phytopathogenic fungi to certain groups of fungicides and active substances and analysis of the impact of resistance on disease control;

✔️ defining a strategy to control plant pathogens with reduced pesticide use and studying other alternative control measures;

✔️ examining the effectiveness of biological agents as alternative control measures against economically significant diseases in agriculture.

The Laboratory for phytopathology is accredited in accordance with the requirements of the SRPS ISO / IEC 17025: 2017 standard.

Authorization by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management

The Laboratory for phytopathology is authorized by the Plant Protection Directorate, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Republic of Serbia for:

  1. laboratory tests for the presence of phytopathogenic fungi, bacteria, viruses and similar organisms for the following groups or types of plants: cereals and grasses, industrial plants, fodder plants, vegetables, potatoes, apples, stone fruits, berries, nuts, wines, ornamental plants, forest plants, citrus, other plants;
  2. laboratory tests for the presence of Clavibacter michiganensis ssp. sepedonicus, Ralstonia solanacearum, Erwinia chrysanthemi (Dickeya spp.), Synchytrium endobioticum, Acidovorax citrulli, Erwinia amylovora, Phytophthora fragariae var. rubi, Agrobacteriim spp.
  3. testing biological efficacy of fungicides and bactricides, active substances and basic substances in the procedure of registration, extension or renewal of the permit – authorized researchers – dr Nenad Trkulja and dr Goran Aleksić;
  4. evaluation of efficacy for fungicides and bactricides, active substances, i.e. basic substances in the procedure of registration of plant protection products - authorized researcher dr Tatjana Popović.
