Dr. Slađana Savić was born on April 2, 1977, in Ljubovija, Republic of Serbia - SFR Yugoslavia. She completed her undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade, specializing in Crop and Vegetable Production, in 1999. She obtained a Master’s degree in Biotechnical Sciences after defending her master’s thesis entitled “The Effect of Partial Root Drying on the Growth and Photosynthesis of Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum L.)” on January 17, 2003, and a PhD in Biotechnical Sciences after defending her doctoral dissertation entitled “Physiological Mechanisms Regulating Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum L.) Productivity under Drought Stress” on June 14, 2008. She participated in two international projects, one international workshop, one COST Action, and six national projects. She is the author of a university book titled “Physiology of Cultivated Plants”, and two university manuals in plant physiology. For the purpose of professional development, she spent time at the University of Copenhagen (Department of Crop Sciences, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Denmark) and at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (IAMB), Italy. Dr. Slađana Savić supervised two doctoral dissertations and six master’s theses, served as a member of the committee for three master’s theses and one doctoral dissertation, and served on committees for the election of three candidates to the position of Research Associate. Dr. Slađana Savić has actively participated in numerous scientific and professional conferences of both international and national significance. To date, she has published approximately more than 140 bibliographic units. According to the Scopus database, her publications have been cited a total of 451 times in international journals, and her Hirsch (h) index according to this database is 11. She received the Matica Srpska Award (Professor Lazar Stojković Award) for 2006 for scientific research in the field of agroecology. According to the list of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, Dr. Slađana Savić was included among the top 10% of researchers eligible for awards for the periods 2024-2025 and 2026-2027. She is a member of the Serbian Society for Plant Physiology and the Federation of European Societies of Plant Biology (FESPB).

Dr. Slađana Savić’s narrower scientific field is Physiology and Biochemistry. Her scientific research is focused on investigating the effects of drought on plant growth and development, studying the physiological and biochemical mechanisms regulating plant productivity and fruit quality, as well as investigating the effects of applying biological agents and medicinal plants and the efficacy of herbicide application in tomato production.
