Research field

Population genetics, biology and phylogeny of economically important insect pests and insects as potential agents for biological control of invasive weeds. Molecular epidemiology and etiology of phytoplasma diseases as well as the role of planthoppers and leafhoppers (Hemiptera, Auchenorrhyncha) in transmission of phytoplasmas (Molicutes, 'Candidatus Phytoplasma'). Special interest in interactions and coadaptations of phytoplasma and endosymbionts with and within insect vectors, as well as interaction of endosymbionts with quarantine pests.
