Research field

Research fields include the vector role of leafhoppers and planthoppers in the epidemiology of various diseases caused by phytoplasmas, the interaction of phytoplasmas and insect vectors as well as molecular systematics, population biology and insect phylogeny, including an integrative approach in identification and taxonomic characterization. Scientific interest is also the research of biology and distribution of quarantine and invasive insects in agricultural production, as well as the application of molecular methods in their identification.

Research interests for scientific collaboration and (co) mentoring master thesis and doctoral dissertations

  • Investigation of the vector role of leafhoppers and planthoppers in epidemiological cycles of diseases caused by different groups and species of phytoplasmas;
  • Population genetics and phylogeny of leafhoppers and planthoppers;
  • Integrative approach in insects classification which implies the use of morphological and molecular characterization.
